Bio:
Britney Spears comes to us from Kentwood, Luisiana, with hopes of becoming a well-regarded singer. With her youthful attitude, her refreshing good looks, and with her two plump bouncy hit singles she has reached the top of popularity among young male fans of bubble gum pop music.
Britney was a performer since a young age. She started out down the path of a show business career as an aspiring child actress. She auditioned for Disney Channel's "Mickey Mouse Club" series at age eight. She continued to improve in the acting field when she entered the renowned Off-Broadway Dance Center and the Professional Performing Arts School. She also appeared in several commercials and also in a 1991 comedy, "Ruthless".
Britney continued to attempt to start up an acting career and also attend high school at the same time. She soon found out that the acting business needed a little more actual talent than just a pretty face, and decided to try to make it as a singer.
Jive Records knew they were getting into something profitable when they signed Britney to their label. Using loads of make up and ingenious camera angles they quickly built up Brintey as a sex symbol, and thus she was able to transcend her lack of musical talent and become popular among the kids. In an era when bubble gum kid music is booming and expanding, Britney found her own niche as a bubble gum pop princes who graced the magazine covers teenage boys took to bed with them.
Her chance to someday become a serious singer was severely jeopardized when she became the butt of several jokes resulting from her choice to go under the money scalpel and get silicone breast implants on the same day that the burned out Pamela Lee opted to get her money-makers out. The quote "Britney still relies on hand-me-downs" rang loud and clear through the halls of many schools and homes, with more people than ever before realizing that Britney would never amount to more than a burned-out child star doing lounge acts in Vegas, or performing in legit skin flics later on down the road.
There is little doubt that
Britney is a good thing to have around. The marketing of her body gives her
an era of a for-sale Barbie doll on the market for "anything pop" that comes
her way. Maybe people would take her seriously if she just tried to sing,
and maybe the way that she is portrayed in the magazines is a little bit too
much for her own good. Maybe she should have waited until she was 18 to become
a sex symbol. But as long as people don't take her seriously, her sad reign
over the bodies of boys (and some men) will end in the coming year.
